It's happening more and more, people are using their personal Dropbox accounts at work. Your employees want to be able to access the files they need wherever they are. With BYOD (Bring your own device) policies and dynamic working situations with less separation between work and home life, it seems inevitable that they would want unfettered access to necessary information, regardless of what device they are on, work laptop, person tablet, or smartphone. The only way this can be accomplished is to store their files in the Cloud.

But if your company isn't using the Cloud then they are going to try to solve the problem themselves, even if that means using unsecure Cloud based storage solutions.

Many people have heard of Dropbox. It's become a household name in Cloud storage. Simply drag a file from your desktop to the icon and boom, your file is copied to the Cloud, accessible from anywhere at anytime.

And that may be fine for personal files, but what about your company's sensitive information. Do you want your employees putting your information into a service out of your network, whose security is out of your control?

Good chance it's already happening. Now don't get me wrong, the cloud is safe, but some services are more not as secure as you may want them to be for your company's information, Dropbox included.

The solution here is to provide a Cloud based storage solution that will give your employees the flexibility they want and need. If not they will continue to improvise in ways that make you uneasy. Now, Dropbox does now offer Cloud based options for businesses, but they still aren't up to par with other solutions.

Google on the other hand just upped the ante with Google Drive for Work which offers a slew of additional security features that should give you peace of mind knowing your data is safe and within the terms of your company's security policies.

If you're interesting in Google Apps for your business we'd be happy to have a discussion with you to determine if it's a good fit.
